Looking for some help in finding a replacement axle for my 46 3/4 ton...don't care if it is 5 or six bolt pattern...would like a 3:90 or 4:11 posi rearend...need some direction to which make and model may have what I need. The distance from one backing plate to the other is 52.5"...I have gone to several junk yards and there so many...but no cigar in a close measurement...I will be mating this to a 700R4 transmission.

Since you are going with a 700r4, you'll need a rearend for an open driveline truck. Most truck rears from the mid 50's on up should fit the bill. An S10 rear should be easy to find with lower gears, as well as a Ford Explorer 8.8 rearend.

If you have a 46 3/4 ton, you already have an open drive rearend. Is your truck 6 lugs or 8 lugs?

i don't know how much difference there is in my 38 and your 46 but i have a s-10 rear i got with my truck "not installed" it has a disk setup and from every measurement i did the disk brakes would be hitting the frame so add tires to that and i don't see that working to well

1937 1/2 ton
