does anyone have a picture of where this metal strip for the bottom of the door goes and/or what it does? The rubber weather seal is held by push-in barbed plastic pins so i was wondering what the function of this retainer is? thanks

there are some small holes that screw it on - it captures the rubber so it doesn't get snagged and pulled loose, especially it helps when the wet rubber freezes to the step big_eek also helps to keep the joint secure, which should be bottom center if you don't have the molded one piece rubber

yes i put the butt joint at the bottom center because that made sense to me. my replacement doors don't have holes (probably repaired) for the retainer, so i'll drill 'em. thanks Bill
