I found a 6 lug hub piloted Motor Wheel as used on some GMC's among other trucks, and oddly enough this one is a 22.5.

Some info:
6 lug hub centered "motor wheel" Firestone Accuride #26494 hub piloted 22.5 x 6.00" with 6 x 8.75" pattern and 6.25" center bore

I've seen one other that was to squished and misshapen to use and a friend of mine has seen one as well.

So there is a small amount of hope that you GMC guys with Motor Wheels might find a set one day and could run 22.5" tubeless tires.

what type of truck was it on ?

I don't know if this helps, but an old Hollander Interchange manual shows the following info:
Hollander Interchange #4- 22.5 x 6 with a 6-8 3/4" pattern, factory part#3724641 fits 56 Chev 2-2 1/2 ton and 56 GMC 350, 370, 450 and 500
Hollander Interchange #596- 22.5 x 6 with a 6-8 3/4" pattern, factory part # B6T1015 fits 56 Ford 2T, 600 Ser and 56 Ford T 700 Tandem
No info is given on center bore diam.

Wasn't on one, I spotted it in the junk yard just laying loose, only the one.

Grigg, What kind of lug nuts would be used on these wheels? Are the lug holes chamfered? I have the same looking wheels that had 6 1/4 center hole. My lug holes are chamfered and a regular chamfered lug nut fits on it. Did someone do this to these wheels. I checked and it says Firestone 22.5 x 6 max tire 9.00 on it and I could make out what looks like 6494 of the part number but it is kind of burried in the paint and hard to see. I opened the centers up to 6.5 to fit over my 2003 GMC hubs. I bought them off a guy who ran them on a 60's ford cabover

They use flanged nuts and have straight holes.
Here's a picture of a "motor wheel" on a GMC with lug nuts, it's 20" but same bolt pattern as this wheel I found.

If you have what appears to be the same 22.5" wheel I have but with chamfered lug holes I'm pretty sure someone modified it.
Or, 6 lug Bud wheels also have an 8.75" bolt circle, but noticilbly larger and chamfered lug holes and a larger 6.5" center hole.
..... did you need some 6 lug Budd wheels and went about it the hard way?. They' would be new Accuride part number 28157, page 17 as well as readily available (even in different widths) used in junk yards.

I would not say I went about it the hard way. I just was not spending 1800 bucks on new wheels. After searching for about a month and not finding any in salvage yards near me, a friend hooked me up with somone who had some. I bought all 6 for 150 bucks based on the lug pattern and did not think about the center hole. When I go them home is when I discovered they had smaller center holes. The lug holes were already chanfered. I used a milling machine and fly cut the ceters to 6.5". it only took about 10 minutes a wheel once I had it set up. i will see if i can get a better look at the part number. I did not want to mess up the paint since they are already done and tires mounted. Here is a pic of one

I bought a set of Rh5 widow maker rims and tires for the tires. They came off a state owned dump truck that was an older Ford, a f700 I think. Anyway, the lug pattern was 6, 8 3/4". The center hole was too large for my 450, but the wheels would physically mount on the hubs. The fellow at the state depot said that most of those old trucks had 22.5" but this was a little used dump that they kept until recently. It gave me hope that I could find a set of 22.5" wheels that would fit, just by making an adaptor ting for the center.

Sounds like you've got hug centered motor wheels and are considering using 6 lug Budd stud centered wheels, which as you say sort of fit.
I have heard of folks swapping out the studs (possibly with machine work needed) on Motor wheel style hubs for the appropriate Budd wheel studs and running stud centered Budd wheels (with correct Budd nuts), as you know they are the same bolt circle. So that's a 22.5" option. Finding a set of the ones I pictured is as well... I'd sell the one I have if interested, you'd be one wheel closer to a set.

The guys I've swapped notes with just had to change studs to go from hub piloted to stud piloted. On some hub piloted studs there's a raised lip right at the hub that prevents the Budd inner cap nut from seating on the Motor Wheel stud. I've, on the other hand, also had Studebaker guys do the swap and said no modifications were needed. All depends on the stud design. Stu

I've got a set of 4 hub piloted 22.5 6 hole wheels that I would like to trade for lug piloted wheels. Mine came with 2 new and 2 capped tires I bought for my F600, not realizing I needed stud piloted wheels.

The wheels are in Michigan.
