I have a 94 T-5 and was hoping it will work in my 1940 1/2 ton with a 235 and an adapter. Thanks 40Rat | | | | Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2003 Posts: 452 | Sometime around 1985 (1987?) they went from mechanical to electronic speedometers. Only the older ones have a cable drive. Check some of the tech tips here, there are ways of doing it without an adapter.
Current fleet (subject to change w/o notice) \'49 GMC 3/4-Ton , 60 Austin Healey Frog-eye Sprite (some assembly required), 2011 Dodge Avenger, 2015 Jeep Cherokee. No, they don't all run. My other ride is a (B737)no, (B767)no, A320.... Update... was Embraer E190, now Boeing B787. Knowledge is a wonderful thing, but ignorance means you don't know you can't do something.

How would the 235 motor, the T-5 transmission, and the rear end out of the 94 S-10 work in my 1/2 ton 1940 Chevy? 40Rat | | | | Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 71 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Oct 2011 Posts: 71 | Should all work great......I would make sure the rear end ratio is about 3:55 or more (numerically) and what the gearing is in the T-5 ? | | | | Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 725 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Oct 2007 Posts: 725 | The T-5 OD ratios are all over the place from .72 to .93! You must KNOW which T-5 you have. You will also need the S-10 shifter to keep the shifter from coming out under the seat!
best wishes,
