I have a 48 chevy 2 ton with a timken 2 speed that I need a repair manual for. I also need to reline the brake shoes. I can't seem to find anything on this axel and can't find brake shoe lining material. Anyone have any suggestions of where to look?

GMC used the Timken axles and they are covered in their maintenance manuals. My preference is Motor's Truck Repair Manual. The 11th edition was printed in 1958. These books were written by mechanics out in the field where factory manuals were written by factory guys that never got grease under their fingernails. Old Motor's manuals appear on eBay regularly. There are still old brake service companies around. San Antonio Brake and Clutch in San Antonio, TX still reline old shoes. They call on us every week.

Hey bens48 I see your in Idaho, I am in Salt Lake City I had Page brake reline my shoes, and turn my drums, as well as rebuild and hone my wheel cylinders and master cylinder. They have three stores in Idaho. The guys here treated me really good, I had nothing but a positive experience with them.
Here is there site Page Brake
