Just wondering why hardly anyone uses the rear splash panel? I don't see it on any trucks but is available to buy. I can understand that it would get damaged very quickly given its location right by the rear bumper, but why don't people put them on? Especially the purest-restorer? Maybe it was an option, or a "Delux" part?

If your looking at the rear pan offered by Mar-K that is a custom part not a factory original part. That was never offered for the AD trucks from Chevrolet.

I think that Patrick's also make a 47-53 rear filler-panel (that is sold by several other vendors). Maybe it is made by MarK? As Denny posted, there was no factory original, or RPO, or accessory rear filler panel.

The 47-53 filler panel does not work on 54/55 Advance-Design pickups.

That rear filler panel will not fit on '47-'49 AD pick ups that are equipped with the original sliding out spare tire carrier. The "J" that holds up the spare tire carrier is in the way of the filler panel and there is interference with the end of the carrier.

The one I saw is in the 2011 Fall edition of LMC. That's good to know that it was not an "original" part. No wonder u don't see em out there. Heck that'll save me $189.95!!!! Plus $20 extra for an oversized part!!! Thanks.
