For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 145 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 145 | I just put in a new fuel tank, and I have a new fuel line for it. From what the assembly manual says, the fuel suction comes from the top of the tank. But I cant find any sending unit with a suction line going down in the tank like what the assembly manual shows. I could tap off the drain plug, but I cant find a fitting that converts 5/16 normal threads to NPT. Truck is a 53 half ton, with the tank behind the seat.

Also, depending on the source of your new tank, the drain plug may be metric threaded, not NPT. I'd advise converting to top feed. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 145 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2008 Posts: 145 | Please provide a link. I ordered a sending unit from american truck parts. It is not top feed. Every sending unit that I've looked at is not top feed. I'd rather just tap into the bottom, but cannot find the right reducer. It is 5/16 standard thread. In the Gallery[yrl=http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=43825635&albumId=1717519]More pictures in MySpace

I had to search for 1954 instead of 53 In the Gallery[yrl=http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewPicture&friendID=43825635&albumId=1717519]More pictures in MySpace
