Misting the rubber grommet & windshield with a 50/50 mix of dishwashing liquid & water will help, as well. The pull-cord method works great if the rubber grommet is good quality & the rope is woven nylon or polyester. I took the back window out and cleaned and primed everything but when I started to go back with the glass it just did not want to go in. I finally called a guy who has done glass work for me on oyher cars.When he installed that glass with the seal he had to hit that glass so hard I thought it would break. He did a nice job for $100.00 and it has not leaked at all. they drove out to my shop and put it in in less than an hour.
i was amazed at the pounding that guy gave the glass but he put it in no sweat.
if i'd have done it i'd have broke it.
