First - I'm still new to the forum so forgive my ignorance on some of my postings...

I now have my first "old" truck but it's new to me, thanks to my father in law.

Its a 55 GMC 100 Series 2. I'm working on the interior first and wanted to get some advice and tips on the carpet and heat shield. I laughed my arse off when I saw the gas tank was in the cab....

This is the product that I'm looking at: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=115

Wanted to get opinions from the pros on this site as to what you think.

Here is the truck: http://www.flickr.com/photos/71945287@N03/with/6499676201/

Concerning a heat shield, if you have an inline 6, you need to pay particular attention to the area around your accelerator pedal. Your foot is directly behind the exhaust manifold. Whatever you use should offer zero heat transfer (I used material available for stock cars.) If you don't do this, you may experience a medium-rare foot in your future. smile

There are many sources for properly preformed carpet on the web. LMC may be a bit high. Just make sure you are ordering the correct color--ask for color swatches.

Be sure to use a sound deadener, heat shield, and pad (may be an integral part of the carpet). FYI, a soldering iron works well for "cutting" holes in your carpet for seat attachments, etc. That way you will avoid unraveling.

Do some searches on Stovebolt. I'm sure there have been some discussions on this previously.
