I want to go total resto but with a few modern changes. This is my first truck and was wondering if anyone has taken one from 6 vlt to 12vlt and what i needed to do? Is it difficult? | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | read here, and as you're not far from him, talk to Patrick in Casa Grande Bill | | | | Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2008 Posts: 4,903 | 6 volt starters will work with 12 volts if you don't crank too long. I prefer installing 12 volt field coils. Your 54 should have a 6 volt, 6 bolt flywheel which is a very much sought after item. You could probably trade for a 12 volt flywheel and starter and possibly get a little money out of the deal on top of it. | | | | Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 23 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2011 Posts: 23 | Thanks man i am a lost soul with this truck.
