Hello all, I have an idea for a car show.)(Our stove bolts!) After 18yrs at johnston community college (20 mins east of Raleigh),last 5 of those years I was Director of Programs, fine art, graphic design, and music. My last big project was the construction of a recently completed $200,000.00 fine art gallery project-a large idea for gallery was to focus a portion of the exhibitions on "non-traditional ART". In this case an auto show-suburbans,panel trucks and trucks. Would you guys be interested? We could develop a stovebolt show. There is a 1500 sq ft art gallery and very large paved parking lot right in front.(I thought we could literally create a shop inside the gallery) could be very cool! Set up a frame on jack stands with tools, sheet metal parts etc. Car parts hanging on wall as art, photographs hanging too... Anyway just an idea- let me know if there are enough of us local to make this happen. We could possibly have event this spring,in 6-8 months or in 2013. The gallery plans for up to year in advance.

For clarification, I am no longer employed by JCC (I am an adjunct instructor, I am now in divinity school and a licensed pastor:) but I know the college would welcome this type of event, in fact they are seeking an auto group to exhibit.

...it would be great to get our TRUCKS some recognition. I think trucks get short changed sometimes even though they played a big part in our world long ago....and STILL do.

I'm sending you a PM dukedaddy along this line.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

I agree, and I like the position of "the role our vehicles played long ago" we could include historical documents and photos of the auto working, etc. Therefore the exhibition can be a "learning experience" too. Also to helP ensure success- stove bolts would/could be the focus (displayed in the gallery and in a designated area outside) but then we could possibly open the paved area to our "brothers-in-auto-arms" and have an open car show/event which would involve a large community of auto lovers. This should increase the attendance and overall success of event.

Just ideas:) let me know what u think.

...round up all the locals you can. Say 75-100 miles and if interested just set it up. I think you'll have more than than stovebolters show up....with their trucks. There is a bolter in Charlotte that is an artist by trade and paints a lot of automotive pictures. He may be interested in showing, or having sell, a couple of his art works?
Any Bolters out there interested? Let dukedaddy know!
