Hi all I am new on here and wow, what a find…great info… I have a question in regarding an engine swap in my 1946 ¾ ton Chevy PU…the 216 is leaking oil and water and I wanted to make this a daily driver around town and to car shows in South Florida (150 miles one way)… I have looked at 235 – 292’s, and had a lot of suggestions of small block Chevy’s from all my friends. After going to many car shows this past year, I found that everyone has small blocks in everything…I want something different so when I open the hood they will say what the hell it that… A friend of mine has a Chrysler 225 cu in Slant Six with a manual 3 speed in the back of his garage an suggested if I could put up with the wrath of the Chevy owners, the Slant Six would be a great performer in the truck… and accomplish the effect that I was looking for.

Now my question to the forum is; has anyone (who hasn’t lost his senses) ever put a Slant Six in to an Art Deco Truck Body?

Hy jkully, welcome, that certainly would be a unique swap, I think the slant six is a great engine. There is another option you may not be aware of, the Chevrolet 261, it looks just like a 235, and with a bit of parts swapping will be a drop in swap. Good luck whichever way you decide to go.

Thanks Shop...the 261 is my second choice if the Slant Six doesn’t work out...
