Hi, the above truck is my first ever old Chevy. It appears to be the WWII era version--painted grille, leather fill neck seal, steel ID plate on cowl, plastic or rubber covered inside door handles, etc. I'm currently working on the grille. It has 4 colors. Earliest appears to be blue then silver, gray and then white. What color was the grille when the truck was sold new? The truck appears to have been blue originally.
Also my VIN number on the ID plate has 9 BK 43 and then the serial number 74xx. I think I've seen the "9" decoded as manufactured at the Ohio plant, but what does the 43 mean? Thanks In Advance Don

Thanks to GMONIZ for the VIN decoding. Thanks to Stovebolt for showing the paint colors for '42. It turns out my truck was originally "export blue". It looks like my truck was painted blue at the factory (including grille)and then the grille was painted the second coat of paint that was silver? Does that seem correct? Thanks, Don
