The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Making a Stovebolt Bed All metal pickup bed

I have came across a short 5'3" truck bed recently. The floor is corragated metal. The stake pockets are merely holes in the top of the bed sides with 2 brackets on the outside of the bed side. The bed sides go up then break at a 45 degree angle. Instead of a roll it is squared off. Is this a manufactured bed or something a very good metal worker has made?

It's a bit hard to tell from those pictures. May be a T-Bucket heavily modified.

Maybe, the brackets on the outside of the box to hold the "stakes" made me thing it was intended for use. Thanks for your reply.

I can think of 2 things it might be. 1 would be a conversion bed for an early roadster to make it into a pickup, either factory or aftermaket. The other (this is the one I really think it is) would be a bed from a military (specifically Navy) spec '40-'42 Willys Americar Truck. I have been told that Willys built some of their trucks with a shortened bed to spec for use on bases.

I am thinking it ia a military bed from WWII or Korea. Doesn't match any cilvian bed I can find.

My research inticates it is an early 30's dodge or Fargo bed. Thanks for your help.
