Is there a combo unit or should I convert a s10 ac heater combo to fit. thanks for all help you guys give | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 1,624 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: May 2005 Posts: 1,624 | Most if not all the aftermarket A/C units I know of have both heat and A/C. Companies like "Vintage Air" have catalogs and web sites where you can find a unit that is a 'drop in', if there is such a thing, for your ride. Depending on how well you have insulated the cab most units due what they say. The only complaint I've had is defrost. Not because of the heating units but the orginial defrost vents were like an after thought to vehicles as old as ours. If you can open them up some it probely would help.

Has a/c, heat and defrost. Everything bolted up well on my straight 6 250, with only a little grinding. Not a fan of their tensioning mechanism, but it works. Blower and evap unit fit in your cab, keeping the engine bay looking relatively stock.

The directions were very clear and the service was outstanding. Old Air

Many of big air's options were standard on mine, I also preferred my (optional) electronic controls vs cable operated. I think vintage's units look shorter and wider which in general let them fit behind the dash better. I do like their vacuum operated compressor switch though, nice option I didn't see on Vintage site.

puh TAY toe puh TAH toe Old Air options electronics and manual controls. I opted for the manual knowing any breakdown I can repair.
