does anyone have a spare left front fender splash guard. I've been looking for one for awhile and can't seem to locate one. the rubber replacement is easily obtained but the the bracket that bolts to the inside of the fender is not in parts catalogs that i can find.sorry i forgot to say this is for a 62

you have a picture of what you are describing? Are you talking of a piece between the fender and the door pillar?

i don't have a pic but the part I'm trying to find is the fender to cab seal it has a rubber flap stapled to it and they are left and right specific. its about 12 inches long has a curve to to follow the conture of the inside of the fender they are bolted to the fender and the rubber flap was factory stapled to it

You still have that (those) splash guards? Also looking for the support piece that provides support (and seal) between the inner fender and fender at the top of the fender.
Otherwise I do need the driver side splash guard.

What are you folks going to attach then to the fenders. Anybody have a write up? The OEM metal staples are nowhere to be found, so I'll have to bend wire, Anybody know what guage and type. I suppose I could use an old coat hanger wire but did not think it would last long?

From what has been described in previous posts, the splash guards / dust guards are attached to the fender with pinch clips. Have not looked for the pinch clips yet. Once I get my hands on the splash guards I will shop around. The seals are attached with staples. 4-5-6 describes using a stainless steel wire, bent to form the staple. I plan to use weatherstrip adhesive for the seals.

Due to the pressure put on the rubber/metal closure piece, weatherstrip adhesive will not hold them in place...unfortunately, I found out the hard way and had to remove the front fender to properly remedy the issue. The stainless steel wire, in the form of the factory staples, hold the rubber to the metal extension and the metal extension is held to the front fender back brace, via the factory pinch/friction clips.

Good to know Tony. I will now change my method to the staples. Have you had a chance to pull the splash guards off of a couple of your fenders for me? Still Looking.

Where do you get the SS wire? What gauge is it?

I get the small roll for The Home Depot or Lowe's. It is found in specialty hardware section, where you would find the picture hanging hardware & such. I don't recall what gauge it is, but it is the thickness of the small paper clips...which would also be a great source for the wire staple material.

I used contact cement.

Used the plastic push ins like the use on a new inner fender. once in they work perfect. have to experiment for the right diameyter though, fender holes and seal holes are slightly different sizes.

Then had to drill out metal strips to 3/8" (they were slightly undersized), then used well nuts to attach to fender:

Well nuts are made for attaching two pieces of sheet metal. They have a 3/8" OD and use a 10/32" machine screw to tighten them in place. I couldn't find anyone that stocks the original pinch clips any longer. Gives strips a nice rubber mount.

I used Arrow T50 staplegun staples installed manually, they are perfect length. Used zip-in sheetmetal screws to attach gaurds to fender.
