There is a reletivly new clutch in the truck I just bought. I notice that it engages right at the floor Hardly any room at all. I have read through many of the posts here and am now wondering if the pressure plate may be installed incorrectly? In my shop manual it says that the only adjustment is for free play, which I have none. The pedal feels great. Can I adjust this at all. It would make shifting way better also.

Thanks.

Zero play also. This is bad! I'm supposed to have play. I can put play back in the pedal but won't that make it so the clutch is even farther from disengaging?

Not enough info Dan. Is it all original '46 or has it been hot rodded? What sort of mods
did they make to the running gear? Where did the clutch come from and who installed it
and how do you know it's "relatively new"? You cannot install the Pressure Plate
incorrectly, you can install the Clutch Disc incorrectly by putting it in backwards. Also they may have an incorrect throwout bearing installed.

It orriginal. Unfortunatly it will be a week before I can get back under it.

The clutch was installed professionally. I'll find out where.

Thanks, Dan

The adjustment is all the way in. It looks like I need to pull the clutch and figure it out that way.

I used to have problems with after market clutches (S-10's)
releasing to early, like yours, or not releasing at all. The clutch plate has a cushining spring between the 2 plates, and sometimes this spring expands to much,(wrong spring) and not allowing enough clearence when released by the pressure plate. A plate that is too thick can also cause this problem.

The older I get, I only want to work on older rigs.
