Is it true that even when new there was no body plate or code somewhere that confirms the original exterior color on a 42 BK that was produced in Janesville, Wisc? Any literature around about optional interior colors? Thanks guys for any help.

True - nothing IDd on a plate or through a number on the vehicle. There were no options for interior color. They were all the same.

Lot of references on my web page (link below).

Thanks Tim. I've been studying your photo gallery a great deal. Wonderful resource (and I can't believe you moved twice during the project). The reason why I thought there might have been interior color options is because under the layers of pain on the pieces that should be that hammered paint I keep finding a color that looks like Airdale Brown on top of the black that must be the primer. In your photos your dash, doors, etc. look gold.

Yes the photos do make it look a bit gold. It is really more of a beige with the hammertone in it. This was the standard color for all the trucks of this era.
