Documentation would be helpful. Harold,
Was the black upholstery a synthetic material and the brown an optional leather material?

The expert is Tim Sheridan. Check out his site & send him an email. He will answer you. http://www.46chevytruck.com/Harold

Some of the other details on interior colors are posted here: http://www.46chevytruck.com/IDGuide.htmLet me know if I can help further. Tim

I believe you're right that brown was the only color that was standard and as Carter describes it, it was "grain brown", that is, it had a texture that was not smooth.
Can you tell us how it was sewn? Did it have piping along the front edge or was it one piece with the seams only on the edges by the doors? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 23 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Sep 2004 Posts: 23 | Tim, that's a fantastic website you have on restoring your AD '47. I finally found a photo of your finished seat and back that pretty well answers my question above. Did you find anything to guide you on it so that you are pretty sure your bench seat matches the original design as far as where the seams are? I see there is no piping whatever in your seats, so presumably that was also true of the original. One other question--do you know if the '47 had any chages at all from the '46--not just the seats but anything at all? Thanks again for the best website I've seen for restoring a Chevy truck.

It gives details of the 1941-1946 and 1947-1954 trucks. Go to bottom of page and click on 1947 models. Harold http://www.pickuptrucks.com/html/history/chev_segment4.html

I'd guess there weren't any since production stopped just before the middle of the year. Maybe someone knows. My Dad bought a new 47 in January even though he knew the AD was coming soon. His brothers thought he was crazy not to wait. Maybe he got a "deal" or something, I don't know. | | |
