Once you have removed the bolt from the pan that holds the lower bracket, the tube, having a slight taper is simply pressed into the block. to remove it just use a soft hammer and lightly tap it back and forth at the top a few times and it will begin to work it's way out. Your correct, it is easley bent so also use care when you tap it back in.
