Most if not all the aftermarket A/C units I know of have both heat and A/C. Companies like "Vintage Air" have catalogs and web sites where you can find a unit that is a 'drop in', if there is such a thing, for your ride. Depending on how well you have insulated the cab most units due what they say. The only complaint I've had is defrost. Not because of the heating units but the orginial defrost vents were like an after thought to vehicles as old as ours. If you can open them up some it probely would help.

Ditto - Vintage Air. They have a universal Mini unit that will fit just fine, used it mine, works great.

Call them and ask their recommendation but pretty sure it was the Mini GenIII universal. Has a/c, heat and defrost. Everything bolted up well on my straight 6 250, with only a little grinding. Not a fan of their tensioning mechanism, but it works. Blower and evap unit fit in your cab, keeping the engine bay looking relatively stock.

I used Old Air because they offered the option of a vent located in the original speaker grill avoiding the obtrusive vent run across the bottom of the dash. The directions were very clear and the service was outstanding.

I used Old Air for my 55.1.
The only issue was that, since I have a GMC dash,
I had to make a new glove box liner.
They didn't have one already made up like they do for the Chevy.

Leon

Just looked at big air, nice units and if the vent issue was key for you Big, that's good, but overall I think Vintage has a slightly better offering. Many of big air's options were standard on mine, I also preferred my (optional) electronic controls vs cable operated. I think vintage's units look shorter and wider which in general let them fit behind the dash better. I do like their vacuum operated compressor switch though, nice option I didn't see on Vintage site.

Old Air options electronics and manual controls. I opted for the manual knowing any breakdown I can repair.
