I was showing a friend my chassie of my 68 and told him that I was sticking a 305 with a turbo350 between the frame rails and he tells me some stuff that I didn't want to hear. He said that he thinks that I will have to replace the tranmission crossmember to be able to use the transmission that I have.

Does anyone have any some better new than that? I would like to here that it will work with the stock one, but I want the truth what ever it may be.

Hy JarridLem, Turbo 350s have at least two different tailshaft lengths, possibly three. If you use the transmission with the correct tailshaft length , everything will drop right in, hope that helps.

Seems to me if you have a manual trans. now you will have to pull the crossmember under the bell housing & put one under the rear of the trans. You could bolt the engine up to the presant trans.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

Like wrenchbender says, you gotta remove the crossmember under the bellhousing, & get an auto for the rear of the automatic.

With the correct crossmember, the 350 is a perfect fit. My 67 had a power glide that was replaced with a 350. Pretty much a bolt in. Power glide cross member worked fine.
