I removed the original carb because it was leaking between the top plate and the body of the carb. I tried to tighten it down to seal the gasket but it looks like the top plate of carb is warped. My question is where do I find a carb or adapter plate that is small enough bore to fit on there? I have an Edelbrock but the gasket is too big to seal up around the intake. I also have a Q-jet adapter plate but same thing the gasket is too big. What kind of gasket do I need or what carb fits other than another OEM carb?

Here's the one you need, and the price is right, too.

The original 348 carb was probably a Rochester 4GC, with a small square bolt pattern. This adapted was intended to allow the installation of a Carter AFB, which is the carb Edelbrock copied.

All of the 348 carbs whether Rochester or Carter have the early rectangular bolt pattern (aka the Carter pattern). This pattern is 4 1/4 wide by 5 5/8 long.

The so-called "square" pattern was used from 1952~1956 (before the 348) and was 3 13/16 wide by 3 15/16 long.

A problem often arises within various carburetors of the "Carter" pattern in that the throttle bores were moved apart (from side to side) on center 1/4 inch on most units about 1961. Thus a 1962 carb, while it may bolt to a 1958 manifold, may experience throttle plates that will not open due to the center line change.

(Opinion) You will like your original (after you rebuild it) better than you will like the "clone", and for a longer period of time.

Being new to the Big Bolts please explain to me more about that statement. I just want my truck to run, not at all worried about it "being original" In my original post I said the carb that is on it I don't think can be rebuilt. The top plate of the carb looks warped. A buddy looked at it today and said "what the heck, it looks like some one was prying on that with a screwdriver". It dumps gas out the top whenever it is running. I took some pics of the damage and will try to post them. I don't know if they will show up.

Are you guys sure that adapter on ebay will work to put another one on. I took the carb and gasket to FLAPS this morning and they looked at it and said have to order one but they had no idea what adapter or gasket to order.

Here are the pics, the best my camera phone can do, but they show where the top plate is warped/seperated for the bottom piece.

If the airhorn has been damaged, repair may be a job for a professional (or acquire a different airhorn from a carburetor of the same tag number). I personally would still redo this one above using one of the clones. Others may have differing opinions.
