i just got this truck it is a 72 gmc 3/4 ton and my fuel gauge won't work does anyone have an idea what it could be i really don't want to take the gauges out to check the ground wire inless i have to so i am looking to see what else it might be thanks in advance

Take the wire off the sending unit on top of the tank. Ground it with a jumper wire. Turn on the key. The gauge should go to empty. Remove the jumper & the gauge should go to full. If not there is a problem with the wires or the dash gauge.

You should use the "subject" line for your subject instead of your user name. I don't know if I have answered your question or not without a subject showing.
