Hello all, New guy here from the great state of Indiana. Below is a pic of my new ride. It runs great but has no brakes. Not sure if i'm going to fix the stock brakes or start modifing?? Plans for the truck are to get it closer to the ground and make it more drivable. Not sure what I'm going to do to get there...s10 frame, camaro clip, drop front axle? What do you guys suggest?

Welcome Mark, you must be near jdl's place, one of the younger members here. I like your truck, actually, I like it just the way it is, just fix the brakes and go.

Welcome Mark. Good looking ride. I would do the brakes first, a disc brake conversion can be done right and fairly cheap with a little searching for the right parts. What ever you do have fun.

Welcome Mark, like the guys say, fix the brakes and drive the wheels off it!
Nice looking truck.

You can build a perfectly good practical driver using the original chassis, without busting the bank.
Relatively speaking....

As they say...If it ain't broke don't fix it!
Good luck whatever route you take.
Jock.

Welcome from another Hoosier. I am in Greenwood. I was in the same boat when I got my truck. Currently running original 216, original brakes in front, but changed the rear end to a Nova with open drive line when I installed the T5. Brakes are really simple on these trucks. I have a complete original rear brake set-up it you need it. Good drums, new shoes, re-built wheel cylinders, etc. Master cylinder and brake lines are cheap if they need replaced. You will find that there are alot of Hoosiers with AD trucks. Good info on this forum also.

Nice looking truck! If it were mine, I'd leave it the way it is. Granted, it's not mine, but you did ask! smile

Thanks guys. I'm leaning towards keeping it original as possible while making it more interstate/highway friendly. I'd really like to do the t5 and open driveline swap. I have a s10 t5 but i'm not clear on all the changes required. I'm aware of the clutch issues and plan to buy a hamilton spacer/adapter, but which bell housing do i use? Do I have to ditch the pedal start? Thanks again

mark, it's probably be better to ask those questions in the best forum like the engine driveline forums. Not everyone visits here in the welcome centre. Wish I could help but I have not made that conversion myself...... but SEVERAL on here have. Good luck.

Welcome aboard Mark

I'm from west central Indiana, not as far along as you are , but it's going to be a fun ride when it's done. Yours looks pretty good.
