Does anyone have a picture of the proper placement of the little rubber hood bumpers for my 1952 Chevy hood? Some are flat and some are thicker. I bought a replacement set.

thin ones on the sides of the hood, thick ones on the upper baffel where the front of the hood touches.
Them's some real nice pictures Gus, a few of those trucks are WAY to nice to drive on the street. I'd bet they're only driven off the trailer and over to the show field though.

I seem to remember the thicker head bumpers did not fit to well in the hole. Might be the way they were formed.

Put in several sets from various vendors and didn't notice any problem with installing any of them. As I mentioned in another thread, a little wipe with some engine oil will help rubber slip in and it's absorbed in short order.

Or a water-soluble "personal lubricant" like Equate Jelly at Walmart. It is the only lubricant that I use on rubber truck parts (not knowing the formulations of the various rubber parts used on a truck, it might be slightly risky using petroleum-containing products).

An interesting aside; I am bad about ordering parts twice, forgetting what I have in inventory. In doing so I have noticed the same part from different vendors sometimes can be quite different in quality. I have seen that quality jump at least 25 degrees from one vendor to another. The best example would be window lift channel sets and cat's whiskers.

I do the same thing regarding over-buying some parts. I often find that the same vendor sells different parts over time. Most recently, I received odd front and rear frame-spring rubber bumpers from two different vendors. The rear bumpers were remarkably different (same shapes but one set was was much smaller in size/scale).

Reactivating an old thread! I bought a set of hood bumpers like this:
Bumper set

There are ten bumpers in the set. The six thin ones go on the hood as described above. Two of the thick ones go on the top of the grill. So what are the other 2 for?

OK, thanks. Our truck doesn't have 4 holes for bumpers along the bottom like Denny's truck has. I suppose that since it's a universal set, I have two spares.
