For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 101 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 101 | I am running a 235 with original HydraMatic and torque tube. When I am accellerating I hear something that sounds similar to a rod knocking. When I decelerate it stops. Don't think it's a rod. Wondering if it could be the universal joint?

I assume the noise is emanating from somewhere other than the engine bay? A worn out UJ can cause knocking/clunking,are you aware of any vibration related to the noise? 1950 Chevy Advance Design 3100 in ScotlandIn the Stovebolt GalleryMore pix on Flickr. It only happens while I am accelerating while in gear, and just before the HM shifts. In the 3-4 gear it starts at about 50 mph. Definitely coming from the engine bay or transmission area. Not real loud just bothersome.
