Jul 21st, 2025 | | | | Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 368 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2010 Posts: 368 | Members, put my parking brake back together and now it won't stay on...I push the foot pedal and the bar won't bite on it to catch...I think I'm missing parts...It's been months since I took it off. Does anyone have a pic or exploded view of parts?
I have the bar,floor spring,square rubber spacer,warped washer and cotter pin....

If you put it to the other side of the felt pad it would defeat the function of it.
It stops the arm rattling and provides a sound/dirt seal.

I took it apart, filed the hole in the keeper, spread the spring, eplaced the leather skinny pad.Still no luck in it biting snd keeping the brake on...I'm stumped, very little parts to screw up...I might try to get another cinch bar and see if thats the problem... Where can I get one of those?

I'd imagine most second hand ones will be pretty worn too,bearing in mind the youngest ones are the best part of 60 years old.
I kind of sidetracked onto other things on the truck,but i'll still have to get mine working a bit better,although it did improve slightly when I filed/sharpened the biting edge of the bar.
Maybe you'll get lucky and find one from a truck who's owner parked it in gear rather than using the brake pedal......
It might help to re-post this in general truck talk as it will reach more guys,not everyone checks in here.
It's not really a Hi-Po question,more of a general truck querie.
I'm sure we're not the only ones......

Sould create small grooves for the catch to bite against and keep from slipping. ?????????
