If it was running with that combination of parts, you probably don't have anything to worry about. Here's a method we use to check valve-to--piston clerarance on the race engines- - - -Turn the assembled engine over by hand, after adjusting valve clearance to spec, until the intake and exhaust valves are partially open and the piston is at the top of the stroke. (TDC on the exhaust stroke). Then use a pry bar or other method to push the valve down to contact the piston, and measure the travel. It's simplest with a dial indicator resting against the valve retainer. You're looking for at least .100" of clearance with the piston at the top of the stroke.

thanks I will check valve clearence when motor is reassembled. It's the casting #s showing different size motors that mixes me up, I think that valve to piston clearence is all there is to worry about?? all the parts I need are available, so far. thanks Bill
