I'm trying to put in a electric fan on the outside of the radiator. Can I cut off the cross braces on the support bracket? I went with the four core radiator and there is only about an inch between the radiator and the short shaft pulley. I have a mustang 2 frontend. will that keep the frontend from flexing or will it still compromise the radiator?
thanks

The radiator core support is the "backbone" of the entire front clip and as such I believe removing them will have consequences but you should be able to add gussets or other reinforcement to replace lost stability.

the top two corners are squared off. I could make some brackets for the corners. the bottom is angled. I have the fan mounted to the crossing support bars right now. It seems to lose alot of volume thow the radiator. It's a 16" reverseable electric fan but it just doesn't seem to push that much air.

You can cut off the 2 cross support bars and still be okay. I don't have them on my 50 3100 and everything lines up okay. I also changed out the stock radiator. I'm still using the water pump mounted fan but I have a 16" fan I'm going to mount and do away with the old style fan

I'm trying to make a shroud around the fan out of a piece of plastic. The shroud will go through the cross bars to the radiator.
thanks for all the help !
