I am ready to run dual exhaust off a split manifold. Wondering what everyone is using for mufflers and how they are routing the exhaust. Any help would be great.

You can see the exhaust I run on the 53' at my Picturetrail site. It's a 2 into one muffker withdual outlets. Provides good breathing with enough back pressure to make the engine work well.

Duals all the way back, 2" stainless steel. The rear header pipe is run to the right side of the truck. I'm currently running Walker mufflers, replacement type for a CJ7,nothing special. That may change in the near future. (Mufflers, I dont need no steenking mufflers! grin )

I just switched from Cherry Bomb Glaspaks to a pair of Cherry Bomb brand Turbos. They are low-end compared with Flowmasters, but I'm keeping the 1-7/8 pipes with my fresh 235 and I don't think the Flowmasters come any smaller than 2-1/4". The glaspaks were unpleasantly loud at full throttle and anything over 2300 rpm's. My pipes run straight back on the driver's side.

The Turbo's are relatively quiet....have a nice growl when you put your foot into it. Might be too quiet for someone who wants to say "look at me"!!!!!!! Hope this helps.

"kid", I'm running Fenton's through a homewelded 2" system on my '53 with a '54 235. The rear tube crosses over to the passenger side just behind the clutch inspection plate so that they run down both sides of the truck. 26" Smitty's for mufflers. No pictures yet.

I run Fenton headers through a 2" system on my '51 with a '58 235. My rear pipe crosses over to the passenger side just behind the clutch inspection plate so that they run down both sides of the truck. I run two Flowmaster 40 mufflers. Sounds great.

Had (still got whats left of it) a 62 in high school, split 235, straight pipes, dual 5' 2" galvinazed "pump pipe" up the back of the cab. Absolutely unreal loud! No cops in the country back then,(i was 15 ). Strange thing, though. This combo had a detrimental effect on rings, compression, trans missions, and high school girls dads.

I have Fenton Headers on my 248 GMC, with 2 1/4" pipes into 2 1/4" Corvair turbo mufflers, then 2 1/4" tail pipes. Not loud at all but at around 2500 RPM has some "rap" to it, which I like a lot. Both pipes are on the left side and exit under the bumper in chrome 8" long tips (2 1/4" too).
