I see Tims nimble fingers beat me to it, Bob, but I'll still post my composition.
No need to trade in your 6v battery for one that doesn't belong in that truck. That sort
of a change is what we commonly refer to as just putting a Band Aid over the problem.
And if you do that you are just creating more problems such as charging and shortened
life span of your bulbs and other electrical devices that were made for 6v.
If your having starting problems fix the problems. A good new 6v battery, clean
connections at all points, battery cables in good condition and of the proper size, a starter
in proper operating condition, a engine that's not worn out and that is tuned up properly.
Follow up on all that and your truck will start every time and your lights will be just as
bright as if it were a 12v system.
