Anyone ever successfully pull one of our 60-66's on a u-haul tow dolly? And not just pick-ups, also wondering about carryalls.

The U-haul tow dolly is too narrow for our trucks it is fine going straight but you have problems with turns and breaking straps and or body damage when you turn a corner Hope that helps

I brought my '65 back from Colorado to Nebraska on an Auto Transport. It worked great. The fit was tight, it just barely fit but it did fit. My truck is a 1965 fleetside so it has the long box. It will work great for you.

I also used a dolly to take it to the car wash after I pulled the engine. This was risky!!! The front tires kept twisting and I feared it would come loose. Fortunately I didn't have to go far so I made it work. I do NOT recommend the dolly!!!

I used a U-Haul tow dolly to transport my 65 fleetside from College Station, Texas to Pensacola, Florida. U-Haul would not rent me a car trailer for my 1/2 ton extended cab Silverado P/U, but would rent me a car dolly. The dolly was narrow for the front tires, but did work. The straps had to be tightened twice during the trip. (10 hours). I did remove the driveshaft from the 65 before traveling.

I used a tow dolly to haul a '72 Eldorado about 400mi (front wheel drive) and a tow dolly to haul a '62 C-10 from Alabama to NW Indiana. I did not disconnect the drive shaft on the truck. The only problem I had in either case was toll booths. Had to be carefull going thru the booths since they are rather narrow. IN both cases we zipped right along at 65mph with no problems, other than re-tightening the straps once.

For about another $20 I rented a car trailer from u haul. I was using it locally so I was able to return it to the same place. It cost me about $70 for 24 hours. The only thing is if you don't have a 3/4 ton truck tell them you are hauling a S10 or something small. They tried to tell me I couldn't haul a full size pickup with an F150 so they couldn't rent it to me. I went up the street to another u haul and said I was hauling a ranger. Worked like a champ.

I used a u-haul dolly when I took my truck to get the body work done on the cab but I did not have any front sheet metal on and I could absolutely see the view of dont use a dolly. I now have a car hauler and if you could a trailer I say it is a must have.
