I ran across an ad on Craigslist for a '66 GMC with factory bucket seats. http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/cto/2640772220.html The ad claims the seats and matching vinyl padded door panels are original equipment. I was skeptical, but then found an article on oldride.com (http://www.oldride.com/library/1966_gmc_1500.html) that says "Also available are bucket seats, padded dash, carpeting, padded door trim and custom sports interior." Looks like a rare truck but I don't think it's worth half the asking price. Has anyone seen or heard of this option before?

I am not aware of the buddy buckets, padded dashes & door panels being available as standard or optional equipment in the '60-'66 Chevy trucks, Panels or Suburbans. I believe '67 was the earliest year, these R.P.O.s were available, in the Chevrolet trucks. I am not certain of the availability of these options on the '60-'66 GMC trucks.

Thanks for the correction and reference K10. I stand corrected on the buddy buckets in the '66 GMC trucks.

I have seen one 66 GMC w/padded door panels & 67-up style buckets, had A/C & PS also. Most loaded GMC I've ever seen, Tom Myers in Miami OK had it about 5 yrs ago.

Owner-modified on the padded door panels? No literature exists, that I know of.

Factory bucket seat GMC pickup
1966 GMC's had bucket seats available as an option. GMC did many things differently from Chevrolet. This is well known, yet continues to be overlooked even by the "experts. Check the thread above for GM documentation of the facts.

The facts have been provided by the expert and I stand corrected.

Hey K10 thanks for the link! This forum is an amazing resource. I thought maybe the seats were from a 67+ truck. The pictures in the ad were pretty small but the matching door panels looked like a factory item. Too bad he wanted $10,000 for it... I'd like to have a truck with that rare interior.

Was watching an episode of "Movin' On" last week on "RTV" and after reading this post I noticed a 64-66 GMC with bucket seats. It appeared to be a one ton or larger with a built-up camper on the back and as the occupants entered the cab area you could notice the bucket seats. They appeared to be as described in this article with a middle "filler" piece to span the driver and passenger seats. I noticed no padded dash or door panels. I assume this truck was stock as none of these were fluffed up until the late 60's. I also never knew these trucks came with these style seats as stock order. I have never seen these GMC years with factory bucket seats, only in later years. Thanks for the post.

I've got a set I pulled out of my '66 panel. If anyone's interested in them, they're taking up space.
Jason.
