There is a "T" valve on the front of the engine and the oil spills out when i crank it since it is not plugged.Where is the oil supposed to be directed

One line from the T should go to the oil filter and the other will go to the front of the cylinder head to get oil to the rocker arm shaft.

The line to the front of the head should have a restriction fitting in place in order to limit oil flow to the rocker arms/valve train.

Do not run the engine without the line in place to the rocker arms.
