When I strip it of any and everything useable, I'll try to sell the excess and scrap the rest.
I called the local salvage yard to see if the title was required if the cab wasn't on the frame and they said "no".
So now I have a question:
Would it be unlawful to sell a title and Vin plate to someone restoring the same model truck?

That way, a potential restorer would have a good paper trail for his project. Somewhat less-than-scrupulous salvage yards have been known to sell titles and VIN plates to "chop shops" that specialize in modifying and reselling stolen vehicles. That's why it's possible to open up a whole can of worms when someone tries to use a purchased title on a different vehicle. Some states are much more lenient than others concerning issuing ownership documentation on assembled vehicles.
