Fella's:
I am just bringing home a '46 2-ton that has been sitting a long time. The original 216 is in it but for a variety of reasons I believe a later 235 (better oiling, etc)
would be a wise move rather than rebuilding this one.
I am very interested in tapping the wisdom here on this and other subjects. Thoughts? I live in Portland, OR and
would like to connect with anyone active with this board who lives in that area. Thanks, Mark

I put a '53 235 in mine and love it. It was a bolt in change

If you have a completely stock 2 ton Chevy truck you may already have a splasher 235 in it. We had a '47 and it came with a 235. Ours had a vacuum two speed rear end too with dual rear wheels. Ran like a top. Did ranch work and hauled hay from 300 miles away every year until 1968 when we sold it and bought another Chevy with a 292 in it. It is still working here and dependable as ever. Get a block number and go to www.inliners.org They have a block number chart that will tell you if yours is a 216 or a 235. The 235 splasher came out in 1941.

the 216 can be converted to a full pressure, with a full flow filter rather easily. Although the splash oiled 216 runs just fine mine has ran 32 years since the last rebuild, but in all fairness no one will get closer than about a block behind me due to the smoke til it warms up then it isn't bad.(thats why I'm building the full flow...just a thought.
