How does a person know that they have a factory original rear bumper? Is it stamped or have raised lettering that reads GM-D?

A PICTURE WOULD SAY A 1000 WORDS!

The original factory bumpers were well rounded on all of the edges. The reproduction bumper blanks are simply sheared off, punched out or laser burned, formed and shot right to the plating tanks with out any deburring. All that I've seen have had sharp jagged edges.

Yes Fonz, original front and rear bumpers have a small, raised GM spaced at intervals across the back.

This is all good info.

Bob--are you able to post a photo or two of what this looks like?

Thanks.

Fonz,
Give me a day or two and I'll try to get over to where my bumper stash is. I know I have some with the raised GM letters, they are pretty small if I remember right, about 3/16" .The bumpers on my '50 I have here are originals but not to the truck itself. I just checked and they have MBC stamped in the middle right by the center bolt.

I have a original front bumper off a 50, with markings. Let me know if you want a pic.

....pic....

The GM-U to the left is stamped
The letters to the right are raised

Don't know if the marking on a rear bumper would be different.
