Anyone have a recommendation on where to get the factory manuals for my '64 C10? I see that several sites have them listed. Also, any preference on CD-ROM or paper form?

Is there anywhere to score a FREE/low-cost copy of the CD-ROM version?

I got all the manuals for both my trucks off e-Bay. Plenty of different vendors selling them there.

I got paper copies. I like having something I can take out to the truck and look through as I'm working on it. Hands on.

You will need both the 63 shop manual and the 64 supplement. I've seen the 63 manual go for between $25. and $40. Do get the CD-ROM version. It's so much better to print out what you need and you don't have to worry about greasy fingers messing up the book. I have the book and it is a PITA trying not to mess up the pages.

I also have both for the same reason. When done just toss the pages.

The 60-66 assembly manual is good reference also.

I got my well used '63 manual at a swap meet for $25. I don't mind the greasy fingerprint marks on it, I think it gives it character. Same with my '65 supplement. Both have been real big helps.

It's the access point for the State of Michigan eLibrary. Once on the site, it has some good, basic, info provided by Chiltons.

To access the site, login using ANY single letter followed by any combination of 12 numbers.

Great original FACTORY info about Chevy trucks is available as a free download (or you can order for $50 if you want). I found a 185 page factory publication with great info about the complete line of 65 trucks that I couldn't find anywhere else.

Look for the Chevy Truck Section and click SHOW. Select the correct year for your truck. The download is in pdf format and can be saved to your computer for future reference.

Make sure you have your pop-up blocker turned off. That might help. I found out lots of great info. I had paint code 538AA on my trim plate. I found out that 538 was a dark blue, but I could not for the life of me figure out what AA meant.

The documents on that website had a section about paint options and it turns out that 538 is actually a 2-tone code. The AA stands for tuxedo black. I never found any of that info anywhere else.

There IS lots of good info! I've only begun to scratch the surface of the info... But, I'm interested to see what exactly my truck started it's life as.
