I'd just like to have a little more updated filter and the plumbing to the pressure gauge could be shorter and not stressed by engine movement. Would there be a pressure drop? Just thinkin'.

It would help some of us mechanically challenged folks to see a visual! :p | | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | If you are going to adapt a standard spin on oil filter to bypass use you need to provide about a 1/8" restriction to the return oil line to keep the oil pressure to the bearings high enough. The bypass filter is designed to only filter about a tenth of the oil flow through the pump. Other than that there should be no problems.

The hole in the spin on adapter is smaller than 1/8", it's more like a pinhole. It flows about 1 quart a minute at idle and I show 25 lbs. of pressure. It has a 3/4" thread so the replacement filter is a little big.I hard plumbed mine as well to eliminate hoses.No place to post a pic. but I can e-mail one to anybody that's interested.
