| | | | Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 16 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Jan 2011 Posts: 16 | I would like some clarification. 55, 3100 1st series. Does the cab tag number/Vin suppose to match the stamped engine block number? My cab# is H550003116 and my block# is 0030I72F55X.
I have heard conflicting answers. If they are suppose to match, at least I have the right engine yr.
Oh and the truck goes in for paint in 3 weeks....Yeeeaaaah

| | | | | Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Jul 2001 Posts: 3,887 | back in the day the engine number was used as the "vin" on the title for state registration purposes, but the tag number and the engine number are 2 different things, the tag id's the specific vehicle for GM's purposes, the other id's the engine only .... yes, your tag indicates a 55 1st series truck and the engine number indicates an engine made in 55
