My order from Classic Parts came in... a new speedometer face, speedometer needle and gaskets.
I just need to repaint the backplate before assembly.
I'm in awe of the metal used in making up these vintage parts... loving it!

I can see where it is/was and ambition project but those are the ones that gives us the most pleasure when finished. Thanks for saving a piece of American history that helped to build this country. Congrats on doing good work.

Got the new speedo intalled. Going to go to the flaps tomorrow to get the cable replaced under warrantee, they said they'l take care of it, even though it was the speedometer that caused the failure.

I tried out my new cheapo HF siphon feed sand blaster and it really worked well for me... though it's not as strong or as fast as an industrial blaster. At least, I managed to blast a few heavy-rust parts... I'm anxious to try it on the frame soon.
I'm also excited to complete my soaking vat! I have a lot of parts I can bundle (I'm still disassembling). I just need to be ready with plenty of primer!

Two very productive days. Finished applying the vibration dampener inside the door cavities, installed both door latches and outside door handles, bolted the door hinge access panels on,did the final adjustment to the Lokar shifter, discovered what was causing the brake lights not to work and fixed it, and finished wiring the headlights (got high and low beams, yahoo).

Got the sound/thermal insulation (roof flashing with nice thick aluminum foil on it) installed on the doors and back cab wall. Used the heat gun to get the metal hot to the touch and the tape nice and gooey before putting it on and rolling it with the wooden roller.

Got my OE brake and clutch pedals modified. New bushings pressed in with the new press. The hollow pins have been replaced with solid ones, drilled, tapped, and zirk’ed. I saw one picture of a set with grease fittings but never found out where they came from - possible big bolt? Anyway, mine are done.

...dakota, I'm watching your progress. Don't go to sleep sitting in those comfy seats.

Well, for me, my nephew is finally working on my wiring harness and I think I metioned earlier I got my new style tie rod ends on the panel.

She's ALIVE!!

Good news: Bolter Mikestem and I cold set the valves, buttoned up all the panels, topped her off with oil and she fired right up with a single, brief stomp on the starter button! Zero hesitation even after four months of sitting with the engine half torn apart. A little trim of the choke and she purred like a kitten.

Bad news: She's not getting oil in the filter or up top. Mike's guess is that we didn't get the distributer in deep enough to drive pump gear. Gonna try to fix it tonight.

Those are my precision engineered seat mount brackets. I found a 3rd row seat out of a Dodge Caravan, perfect fit on the frame. It has a quick release system on the rear that will latch on to those bolts you see. It also has a lever to fold the seat back forward and another lever to slide the whole thing forward on it's integral tracks. Pretty good solution for $75. Sold my velour buckets it came with on flea bay for $55 and this will look more authentic and should be cheaper to re-upholster.

And yes, when it's in I'll post some pics.

Spent several hours on each of the last 3 days yanking on the right side bumper bracket to frame bolts. Finally had to cut them flush and try the old "heat & beat" routine. Another hour and a half later I'd moved one of them just over an eighth of an inch. Arrrggh! The big drill is next.
