I just need to repaint the backplate before assembly. I'm in awe of the metal used in making up these vintage parts... loving it! Going to go to the flaps tomorrow to get the cable replaced under warrantee, they said they'l take care of it, even though it was the speedometer that caused the failure.

At least, I managed to blast a few heavy-rust parts... I'm anxious to try it on the frame soon. I'm also excited to complete my soaking vat! I have a lot of parts I can bundle (I'm still disassembling). I just need to be ready with plenty of primer! Finished applying the vibration dampener inside the door cavities, installed both door latches and outside door handles, bolted the door hinge access panels on,did the final adjustment to the Lokar shifter, discovered what was causing the brake lights not to work and fixed it, and finished wiring the headlights (got high and low beams, yahoo).

Used the heat gun to get the metal hot to the touch and the tape nice and gooey before putting it on and rolling it with the wooden roller.

The hollow pins have been replaced with solid ones, drilled, tapped, and zirk’ed. I saw one picture of a set with grease fittings but never found out where they came from - possible big bolt? Anyway, mine are done. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dodsonbrett/sets/72157627774184916/Cavebull | | | | Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 394 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2005 Posts: 394 | made the supports for the seats, using them out of a 93 New Yorker, split with the drivers being elec. boy do the feel good, | | | | Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall | Moderator: Welcome Centre, Southern Bolters, Legion Hall Joined: Dec 2001 Posts: 14,522 | ...dakota, I'm watching your progress. Good news: Bolter Mikestem and I cold set the valves, buttoned up all the panels, topped her off with oil and she fired right up with a single, brief stomp on the starter button! Zero hesitation even after four months of sitting with the engine half torn apart. A little trim of the choke and she purred like a kitten. Bad news: She's not getting oil in the filter or up top. Mike's guess is that we didn't get the distributer in deep enough to drive pump gear. Gonna try to fix it tonight. http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6158/6185070571_95351efee5_b.jpghttp://farm7.static.flickr.com/6152/6191905703_edfd5bafd6_b.jpg | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 Master Gabster | Master Gabster Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 4,983 | Installed the door lock and those two doodads that go at the top and bottom of the interior windshield center molding. Also installed the drivers sun-visor.

Those are my precision engineered seat mount brackets. I found a 3rd row seat out of a Dodge Caravan, perfect fit on the frame. It has a quick release system on the rear that will latch on to those bolts you see. It also has a lever to fold the seat back forward and another lever to slide the whole thing forward on it's integral tracks. Pretty good solution for $75. Sold my velour buckets it came with on flea bay for $55 and this will look more authentic and should be cheaper to re-upholster. And yes, when it's in I'll post some pics.

Finally had to cut them flush and try the old "heat & beat" routine. Another hour and a half later I'd moved one of them just over an eighth of an inch. Arrrggh! The big drill is next. | | | | Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 18 New Guy | New Guy Joined: Aug 2011 Posts: 18 | 49 Chevy 3600. Changed oil & filter and replaced spark plugs. | | |
