Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 99 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 99 | Hi everyone, I haven't really checked my transmission oil level in a few years and the transmission does have a minor leak. So I removed the "fill" bolt and no oil came out. Should I fill it so that transmission oil goes up to that bolt? I have had the truck for 5 years and had no transmission problems whatsoever but should probably change the tr. oil since who knows when it was changed. Any suggestions on brand names and types you recommend? Thanks for your time! The first thing you should do when you get one of these old trucks is change the grease in the trans. & rear end. It can extend the life enormasly & may prevent an expensive replacement. Any good brand of gear lube rated GL5 with a 80-90 or similar viscosity will work good. They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing. 1972 Chevy c10 Cheyenne SuperIn the Gallery Forum | | | | | Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 99 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 99 | | | |
