I seem to remember a California firm that manufactures fuel senders to original specifications. I bought a chinese one from the catalogues and it has now failed after about 5 years. It also would not read below 1/4 tank. I want to get a good, made in the usa one this time if possible. Please let me know if you know of a good one for my 55 first series 1/2 ton.

I know there is one in Oregon, I had one made a couple of years ago. for my home made under the bed tank.. cost about $75. If interested let me know and I'll look up the address..

Oh i just had a thought, what kind do you need.. ???? I have an orginal 57 truck unit that was working when I removed it. and a couple of GM style units. Would not work with my VDO gages. They require a unit with some wierd numbers like 230 to 30 omes or something like that. Don't remember the correct number but you get the idea... LOL

Thanks for the comment, Earlk6. I don't think I will have to go to a custom-made one tho. I am also hoping I will not have to get a used or foreign one. I can do 6 or 12 volt and I don't want the brights in the switch since I have a dimmer button on the firewall. I also don't need a perfect match.

Finding the perfect ohm match for your gauge is as easy as puting a variable resistor between the sender lug on your gauge and ground. Finding a sender of the proper resistance made in the USA may prove much more difficult.

oops, I'm getting my 2 truck problems mixed up...talking about headlight switch when my thread is about the fuel gauge sending unit. Sorry Still looking for a fuel gauge sending unit usa.
