The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Engine Shop Good price for 235

My neighbor has a '55 235 paired to a 3 speed tranny he would sell. It has the carb and the manifolds, as well as the floor starter. I believe them when they said it ran when it was taken out, and they still go out and turn it over by hand from time to time. What would be a good starting nego price for it? I really do not want to pay more than $200 for it because of what I want to do with it. I don't have a truck for it to go in I just want to make a engine run in stand and set it up to run. I would slowly clean it up and paint it for the truck I will surely get in the future. For the time being, I might even make a beast of a generator out of it. Would I be stealing it for that price or is that decent?

Original, never rebuilt, I'd stick to your $200 for the engine and trannny. I am basing that on what well used ones go for in my area.

Yeah I assume it wasn't rebuilt. The old mans cousin took it out of his 55 to make room for a 454.
