Has anybody replaced the rear cables? What size are the wire ropes and where did you get the single ball swages for the ends that connect to the gate?

Thanks

Wire rope is 44 1/4" long
3/16 dia.
7/16 balls (lead I assume)
Don't forget to put the 5/8 x 1" spring and the clevis on before the balls are swaged. All measurements are close and are taken from original cables.
You live somewhat near the water. Go see a Marine dealer as they should have all that stuff.

I purchased the cables for my '58 from Danchuk. I had to shorten the cables slightly and had new balls swaged on. http://www.danchuk.com/images/Downloads/Catalog/2011-Catalog-30/Doors-and-Windows.pdf

My next question would be, did you read this thread? Even New Mexico must have a boat dealer somewhere within 10 hours of driving, right?

Thank you guys for the info once again.

I have been slowly collecting parts as they come along and these are some of that last things needed. Guess its one of those out of sight out of mind things for me and when I seen this topic come up I remembered they are just another thing on my list

Incidentally, the pullman counterbalances installed and work perfectly. I only had one spring for the cables and it didn't look right. Does anybody have pics? In the meantime, I'll just live without them. It works perfectly. I ended up using the original cables. The replacement stuff I bought didn't look as nice. Amazing. 62 year old cables...

pplummer,

As bowtietim noted after another of your posts, your Google photos links do not work (it requires a username/password).

See if Google has a tab that gives you a URL to a photo.

I'll have to repost. It looks as though the upload got corrupted.
