The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area The Electrical Bay Headlight switch questions

I have two questions about the headlight switch on my 1953 3600. First, what are the things that look like breaker points on the passenger side of the switch? Never noticed them until I got my head under there.
Second, some posts have said there is a button that will release the knob and shaft so you can remove the switch. I don't see the button. Where, exactly would I find it? I think the switch is original - looks like it. Thanks.

Those breaker things, are circuit breakers unless I'm mistaken. Should there be an over load, they break the circuit, cool, reset, and repeat! The little button to release the knob is towards the back, and on the cowl side I think. It's a little button with a spring under it. When I got my 1st truck, it perplexed me to no end, and I asked right on the board here too. If you can, stick your head under there with a good light, or use a big inspection mirror.

Thanks, Mr. Lang. The circuit breaks are a surprise, because I have a schematic for the 1953 and they are not shown on the switch diagram. I guess they are considered an "internal" part of the switch. Wow. One more thing to check. I guess that is the "fuse" because the red 10 ga. feed comes right off the ammeter.

Anyway, thanks. Now about the button , I will have to go under and look again. You have pointed me in the right direction. I wish I knew where to find a picture.

Thanks, Ed. I have the shop manual, but didn't even think to look there. You solved the problem. But if I had to choose between a shop manual or this site - no contest - Stovebolt wins!!!!
