I have been driving past this truck for 4 years. Literally two blocks from my house. I seen they were cleaning out the yard it was sitting in and scrapping everything. I stopped and asked about it and it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up. Lucky for me our scrap yard doesn't really like trucks without titles. The plans are to use any parts off of it I need for my 49 3800 dump truck and then build a rat rod (can I say that here) with the cab.
I already had the hood off (it wasn't bolted on anyway) and in the garage when I snapped the pics. I was trying to remove the hood ornament.
Its a 53 6500 two ton or says the vin buster. GVW of 16,000 lbs.
I can't get the pics to work tonight but it has a green cab with a nasty, ugly wood flatbed.

You don't see too many 6500 series AD trucks.

nice save!! grin ... and yeah, there's quite a few people in here that modify trucks, and some that stay stock, and some that do a combination of the two ... different strokes for different folks - it's all good!

Out east that truck would be too nice to use for a parts truck...Must be nice being out west smile

Good save though....after all people have to get parts from somewhere and a junk truck doesn't give many parts that are usable for anybody. Just remember it is often the little things that people need that get forgotten to take off parted trucks.

I got room to save it as long as needed grin
I was working on taking off then ugly wood bed and discovered the right side frame rail is bent pretty bad. Which doesn't bother me at all. I don't intend to put the truck back on the road as it is. The cab probably will be driven again someday but it will be 5" off of the ground in a rat rod.
