Well my doors are all new, tinted glass, door latches, weatherstrip, run channel, cat's whiskers, inside and outside door handles, rebuilt vent windows. Now the only thing left is the door lock. I had bought a set of locks, door, glove-box, & ignition. When I opened the package out came 4 or 5 parts for the lock. I looked it over and tried to figure out how it worked but no go.
Of course no one walked out of one of the Chevy plants in 1951 with a factory assembly manual; that didn't happened until 1954.
The shop manual shows no pics so here I am on bended knee seeking information on how to install it.

Did you call the manufacturer and let them know what happened? They should send you a replacement.

The new lock arm was too short to reach the lock inside the latch by 1/9 inch. While the old latch lock mechanism worked well, and the lock arm was long enough, the handle return spring was broken, leaving the handle drooping. My solution was to order a new return spring and rebuild the old latch and use the old lock. Works fine now. That's the way with Chinese parts.

Most of the vendors have pulled the latches for the 47-51's and sent back to manufacturer. If you can find a vendor selling them he is trying to get rid of inventory at your expense.

I have corrected the flaw in the latches, and while I am using the new latch on the drivers side, I'll sell the other latch at a show someday.

I had a similar problem with the new glove box lock and had to resort to using the original. Not quite as shiny but adequate.

No, it wasn't worth 35$ to ship it back. I'll sell it at a rod swap meet.
